The end is near!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last week of classes has been so stressful! Between the numerous projects that are due, the test that we wrote, all the busy work assignments given, and planning for Christmas this week has been interesting to say the least!! My ICT course has been a great experience and I have learned a lot of things about the internet that I didn't know existed. I found creating the website on Weebly quite interesting, and creating the video through amino was also quite neat and fun! It is a quick and easy way for someone to put together memories of something in a short 30 second video. I cannot wait to begin teaching and start a career working with kids and having a career I am passionate about. This photo below is a very true quote that explains exactly what is on my mind!! I look forward to the year ahead of learning in all the new classes that I am about to take!

 
 

E-portfolio

My e-portfolio has been my favorite assignment so far. I really enjoyed organizing it and putting it together in a reasonable easy to acces fashion. I am looking forward to finding out how I can make it better and what will get me a job in 2015! I enjoyed using weebly to create my e-portfolio. It was quite easy and will be easy to view online for those looking at it I hope!!!

Presentation

Our presentation is on using apps in the gym. We have chose to us my fitness pal and mapmywalk. These are two apps that are very useful and help students monitor physical activities as well as nutrition. Any of these apps will help with physical education and monitoring a healthy diet.

Allan November

This week I did the Allan November quiz and found out there is still alot to learn about the Internet. I thought that I was alot more skilled with the Internet than the quiz determined. I also completed my portfolio this week which I think looks good. I am looking forward to having a review of it on what I should add or change!

Short week- Powerpoint slides

I was only in class one day this week for the Monday class, and missed the presentation given for the Wednesday class. I really enjoyed creating the 6 slide power point of one word per slide to describe our experience. I had chosen to upload photos of gifts my kids had made me on my last day!

Presentation ICT Continuum

I think that the presentation was well done and that the continuum is a step in the right direction for education. I believe that having a continuum to have points to aim for rather than a beginning and a end will benefit students in the long run! The continuum allows teachers to aim for targets to touch base on and strive towards in order to get success.

Technology in the classroom

During my student teaching placement technology was very limited. The internet where I was placed hardly ever worked and they were having constant problems. The projector in my classroom was available but was not used very often. One of the classes that we had for phys. ed was zumba. This was quite enjoyable for the students as they enjoyed it so much they wanted to do it over recess. Incorporating technology into the classroom is easy and great when it is working, but it is common that it will not be working often too.  I really enjoyed my student placement and being able to get out into the field and work with the children. I had seen growth among the students I was working with and it was hard to leave the classroom to come back to be a student again. I really have enjoyed my expierence in my first placement and look forward to getting back out into the field to do what I love!

We have been working with smart boards this week and I find them very interesting! I struggle with working with them because they are very touchy and do not always do what they are supposed to! Keeping up with the technology of smart boards is very important for teaching and allows a teacher student interaction that you may not get otherwise! I have learned some unique things through the ICT course which will help me in the future in working with smart boards. Another struggle I have with smart boards is only picking up one item at a time in order to write with that given tool. This makes it difficult to do group work using the smart board would it not? Or is there a trick to do group work with more than one pen at a time?

Websites

This week we started on our websites which I have enjoyed doing so far. I had chosen to use weebly which I have found has its benefits but it does not always let you do what you want to! I am fairly experienced with computers so therefore when I cannot get things to do what they are supposed to it frustrates me.

Wordle

We were introduced wordle this week which was very neat and interesting! I thought it was quite cool to be able to organize words in such a different way than the usual. This would be very useful with various age levels in the classroom and would be fun to have younger kids use it to practice spelling along with other things.

Education

The first week back to school is often chaotic for many, including myself. For the past 16 years of my life it has consisted of new friends being made and overcoming that awkward shyness that exists until you eventually become comfortable with those around you. This year I have entered into my first year of my after degree of education and have a various array of interesting courses. Although many of the students around me I know from my undergrad degree there are alot of other students who I am slowly getting to know. I am extremely excited to be going out into the field of teaching for my first placement in just a few weeks! I am most excited to work with the young children and create a relationship of someone who they admire and strive to succeed while I am teaching them as well as throughout the remainder of their school years!
